Janet Rider (Vurraro) Ness

Janet Rider Ness age 80 of Zephyrhills, Florida formerly of Chicora, PA died Sunday, March 27, 2016 in the Zephyr Haven Health and Rehab Center Inc. Nursing Home, Zephyrhills, Florida following an illness. Born in Syracuse, New York October 26, 1935 the daughter of the late Victor Vurraro.and  Viva Mae McDonald Vurraro

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora and the New Beginnings Baptist Church in Zephyrhills, Florida. Being blessed with a great sense of business, she owned and operated Slimmer Trimmer You in Chicora and Slippery Rock.

Janet married James E. Rider March 25, 1953. He died April 5, 1994. She then married George T. Ness , October 22, 1998 and he died in 2013.

She is survived by daughters: Susan Baughman and husband Thomas of Chicora. Sharon Keller and husband Jeffery of Grove City. , Tracy Oconnell of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Tammy Ness of Magnolia, Ohio.

Sons: J. Daniel Rider and wife Lisa of Lexington, South Carolina; Tom Ness and wife Kimberly of Coldwater, Michigan. Tim Ness and wife Julie of Canton, Ohio.

16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren

Brothers: John Vurraro and wife Mary of Syracuse, New York, Victor Vurraro and his companion Rhonda of Syracuse, New York, Donald Vurraro of Syracuse, New York.

Several Nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents she is preceded in death by twin sons and a sister-in-law.

Friends received: Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. with funeral services at 4 p.m. at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Downtown Chicora, PA.

Officiated by Reverend Mark Wallace.

Burial will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora, PA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity  of the donor’s choice.
