Nancy E. (Hemphill) Leitem

Nancy E. Hemphill Leitem, 76, of Butler, formerly of Chicora, PA passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Concordia Home. She was born in Butler, PA the daughter of Wayne Hemphill and Alice Hoover Hemphill on Thursday, August 22, 1946.

She was a 1964 graduate of Karns City High School.

Nancy worked at the Sun Drugstore in Butler, PA. at the snack counter, where she met the love of her life David Leitem. He came in daily with the guise of really liking their ‘cherry cokes’. David finally asked Nancy on a date. They were married in Saint Peter Church in Butler on July 15, 1967, and lived happily for more than 50 years. David died September 28, 2011. They bore two lovely children. Christopher and Amy.

Through the years Nancy was, also, employed at the Fashion Bug, and worked over 16 years at the Holiday Inn, now Days Inn, in Butler, PA. and has always helped in the family business-Hemphill Greenhouse.

Nancy was a member Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church and AARP.

Nancy leaves behind to cherish her memories: Son, Christopher Leitem of Butler, Amy (Jeff) Scott of West Sunbury,

Granddaughter, Alita Scott of West Sunbury

Great-granddaughter, Lily Scott of West Sunbury

Brother, Gary Hemphill and (Diane Ray) of Greenville.

2 nephews: Eric Hemphill and Patrick Hemphill

Niece, Angie and (Chris) Stenson

2 cousins: Luann Gould and Jeanne Wilkerson

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 2 aunts: Grace McKinnis and Grace Wolford.

Friends received at Steighner Funeral Home, in Chicora,  Monday, October 10, 2022. 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11 A.M. at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Chicora, officiated by Father Lou Pascazi.

Nancy will be laid to rest beside her husband in Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners. Chicora, PA.
