John "Jack" William Leitem Jr.

John 'Jack' William Leitem, Jr. age 84 passed away peacefully Friday, December 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family in VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, Pennsylvania. Born in Butler, PA. Monday, December 3, 1934 the son of the late John W. Leitem, Sr. and the late Genevieve A. Brandt Leitem.

Jack worked the Marberger farms in Evan City for many years; was a past Union President for Local 6189 Steel Workers. He later worked at International Staple Co. in East Butler as a Die Repairman for over 33 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fixing things, cooking and delighting his family with his home-made pies, researching the internet on the computer, knitting and crocheting, and made many beautiful afghans for his family, and donated many more to churches and organizations to help them raise money. Jack also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jack enjoyed attending church functions with his wife, visiting with his children and their wives and husband, and playing, talking and teaching his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Donna (DiCicco) Leitem whom he married in 1976, a daughter, Patricia (Ron) Mitchell of Round Mountain, Nevada; 3 sons: Brad (Kerry) Leitem of Justin, Texas, John (Yvonne) Leitem of East Brady, PA, Robert (Kari) Leitem of Slippery Rock, PA; 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hilda (Harvey) Melchert of Plum Borough; Helen (Thomas) Covert, and Rose (Thomas) Steighner of Chicora; a brother, Francis (Hope) Leitem; sister-in-law, Nancy Leitem of Butler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Leo and (Virginia) Leitem, David Leitem, and a sister, Catherine and (John) Fallen.

Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2018, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Corner of 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Chicora, PA

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, 11 am at Saint Louis Catholic Church in West Sunbury, Pennsylvania officiated by Father Steve Neff
