Warren A. Martin, 88, of Chicora, died at 6 p.m. Saturday; January 28, 2012, in VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive , Butler , PA.

He was baptized in St. Anne Church, Castle Shannon, where he was a member and attended St. Anne Elementary School , grades 1 through 8.  He was a graduate of Mount Lebanon High School .

He received his Bachelor of Science Degree  in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Tech and received his Masters Degree from Union College in Schenectady , New York

As an electrical engineer, Warren worked for Bell Telephone Co.;Westinghouse in Pittsburgh . PA. and Blaw-Knox in Pittsburgh ; Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown , PA. and Mine Safety in Pittsburgh .  He was head of the Measurement Lab in Ferroxcube, Saugerties , N.Y. and also worked at Fair Rite in Wallkill , N.Y. and Magnetics in East Butler .

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Warren proudly served our country during W.W.II with the 9400th Technical Service Unit, Signal Corps, from December 2, 1942 to March 26, 1946, achieving the rank of Corporal.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, Chicora , PA. where he was a past-president of the church council and was very influential in organizing the Holy Name Society of the church.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 0945 of Pennsylvania .

He and his lovely wife enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Frogtown Square Dancers and the Lefooters of Hurley, N.Y.

Friends received Friday; February 3, 2012, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Downtown Chicora, PA

A Celebration of Life will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, Chicora , PA with Very Reverend Harry R. Bielewicz and Reverend Steven Neff officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery , North Oakland

Full military honors will be provide by the Chicora V.F.W., the Chicora American Legion and the 99th Readiness Command of Coraopolis.
