Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Parsell, 67, of Chicora passed away at 2:40 a.m. Thursday at his home following a battle with lung cancer associated with Agent Orange.
He was born Jan. 25, 1948, in Fort Knox, Ky., the son of Helene Heere Parsell of Naples, N.Y., and the late First Sergeant Edwin Parsell.
He retired from the U.S. Army on Sept. 17, 1991, after 24 years of service. He served in Vietnam for 15 months. He spent time in Germany, Korea, San Francisco and North Carolina, achieving the rank of master sergeant. After retiring from the Army he worked at Walmart in Cranberry Township from 1992 until retiring from there in 2008.
He was a lifetime member of the Chicora VFW and the Chicora American Legion. He enjoyed country music and fishing. He liked mowing his lawn, shoveling snow and enjoyed holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. He delighted in being with his family.
Mr. Parsell is survived by his wife, Patricia Cypher Parsell of Chicora, who he married Feb. 14, 1970, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Herman.
He is also survived by his mother, Helene Heere Parsell of Naples, N.Y.; his sons, Tim Parsell and his girlfriend, Robin Rzodkiewicz of New Castle and Shane P. Parsell of Butler; his granddaughters, Shyanne and Rachel Parsell; his grandsons, Andrew, Joseph and Nicholas Parsell; his sisters, Doris and Gary Chapman of Naples, N.Y., and Kathy Martin of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; his brother, Lee and Michelen Parsell of Canandaigua, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Karl Parsell and one sister, Beryl Green.
PARSELL - At his request, there will be no visitation for Theodore "Ted" Parsell, who died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015.
A memorial service will be at noon Sept. 5, 2015, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Karns City with the Rev. Ron Roudebush, pastor, officiating.
Full military honors will be provided by Chicora VFW Post 7876, Chicora Post 642 and Bradys Bend Post 448 American Legion and the 99th Readiness Command of Butler.
