Obituary

Regis P. Neff, 100, of Butler, formerly of North Oakland, Chicora, passed away at 9:33 a.m. Friday in Concordia at the Orchard, Butler.
Born April 28, 1915, in Oakland Township, Butler County, he was the son of the late Leo P. Neff and Clara M. Geibel Neff.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country from April 13, 1941, to Sept. 27, 1945, and was in the Battery B 9674th, Field Artillery Battalion, achieving the rank of corporal.
He worked at Fritz Moon Pipe and Tube Co. in East Butler for 27 years until the plant closed in 1963. He then worked for T.W. Phillips until July 1978, when he retired. He owned and pumped oil wells on the Mulligan Farm for many years.
He was a former member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland, where he was a member of the church choir and Holy Name Society, and served on the altar and on the church council. He was presently a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Carbon Center. He was a life member of R.C. Men's Club in Herman, a life member of the Chicora V.F.W. and the Chicora American Legion, and a life member of the Chicora Moose Lodge. He was a member of National AARP, a life member of Tanglewood Center, where he delivered Meals on Wheels, and also a member of the Chicora Senior Center.
He married Averil Black Neff on Jan. 16, 1943, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coylesville. She preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2010.
He is survived by his children; his son, David, and his wife, Deborah, Neff of Chicora; the twins, Ronald and his wife, Martha, Neff of Chicora and Jeanne and her husband, John, Aubrey of Butler; and his daughter, Ruth Ann Douthett of Butler.
Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; four step-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Neff of New Braunfels, Texas; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Neff, Lucina Neff, Geraldine Angert and Mildred Easley.
NEFF - Friends of Regis P. Neff, who died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Chicora. The Chicora Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler, with the Rev. Matthew A. McClain officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be provided by the Chicora V.F.W. the Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion and the 99th Readiness Command at the Saint Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.
