Nicholas R. Semanco, 63, of Chicora died Friday morning in the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler following a 21-year battle with cancer with his wife at his side.
He retired after 33 years at Napco in Valencia, where he was quality control manager.
He was a 1971 graduate from Butler High School. He was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church and the Chicora Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping and Sprint car racing and especially his beloved grandchildren.
Born in Michigan on June 29, 1951, he was the son of the late Nicholas Semanco and Marcy Kearns Dickson.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel E. Byers Semanco, who he married Sept. 23, 1977; his son, Scott Blystone and his wife, Leslie, of Sharon; his daughters, Kris Blystone of Greencastle, Pa., and Nichole Owens and her husband, Estil, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Owens, Brandon Owens, Erin Owens and Nicholas Blystone; his great-granddaughter, Emma Holton; his brother, Gary Nocera and his wife, Celeste, of Butler; and his mother-in-law, Alberta Byers of Chicora.
SEMANCO - Friends of Nicholas R. Semanco, who died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, will be received at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora, from 2 p.m. until time of a service at 4 p.m. Sunday officiated by the Rev. Dennis Hindman. The Chicora Moose will conduct a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery of Chicora.
