Mildred A. Benson
Mildred A. Benson, 89, of Chicora died early Sunday in Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born in Oakland Township, Chicora, on Nov. 30, 1923, to George Norbert Eyth and Martha Mary Weiland Eyth.
She married Edgar W. Benson on Oct. 1, 1946, and he died Feb. 17, 1999.
She worked in Offut's Store in Butler for a short time and then she worked at Armco where she was a shear helper in the Cold Mill during World War II.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland, Chicora, where she belonged to the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Benson of Chicora; her sons, John and Colleen Benson of North Washington, Leonard Benson of Worthington and James Benson of Chicora; her grandsons, Michael and Danielle Benson of Waynesburg, Pa., and Brian Benson of Waynesburg, Pa.; her granddaughter, Alexis Benson of Lyndora; and great-grandson, Ethan Graham of Lyndora. She is also survived by her brothers, George Eyth of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, Norbert William "Blue" and Ruth Eyth of Fenelton, Victor Peter and Colleen Eyth of Mentor, Ohio, and Raymond "Skinny" and Mary Etta Eyth of Chicora; her sisters, Janet Oesterling of Slippery Rock and Victoria and Tom Painter of Slippery Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine MacKrell, and brothers, Charles Eyth and Harold 'Hank' Eyth.
BENSON - There will be no public visitations for Mildred A. Benson, who died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013.
A private service will be officiated by the Rev. Joseph Pudichery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Chicora.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Service, Drawer F., Chicora, PA. 16025.
Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery in North Oakland, Chicora, Pa.
