Lon L. Hovis, Sr. age 86 of Oakland Township, Butler, Pennsylvania died suddenly at home on December 19, 2024. He is the son of the late Earl Leroy Hovis and Ethel Louise Drake Hovis who was born on Monday, November 21, 1938.

He is a United States Army veteran, attaining the rank of E9, who retired after 23 years service as a United States Army Armor School teacher (tanks and trucks)

His passion was reading and solving puzzles.  He is a member of Saint Paul Community Church, Chicora, PA. and the Chicora and East Brady American Legion.

Lon is survived by his loving wife Eileen V. Gutherie Hovis, whom he married Wednesday, July 5, 1961 enjoying 63 blissful years.

A daughter: Glenda Jean Hovis.

A son: Lonnie L. and Heather Hovis, Jr.

4 dogs: Bella Sara, 4 Emily Sue, Clyde, Abby

2 cats:  Booky, Bella

Graveside service at.Oak Grove Cemetery, 2167 State Route 268. Frogtown, Chicora, Pennsylvania 16025 will be held the day after Christmas, December 26, 2024 at 11 A.M. followed by full Military Honors by the Chicora and East Brady American Legion.
