Gerald T. "Tom" Barnhart, 73, of Donegal Township, Fenelton, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Born in Chicora on July 14, 1940, he was the son of the late George H. and Florence M. Emminger Barnhart.
He worked as a truck dispatcher for Pullman Standard until the plant closed.
He was a member of the Fenelton United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Happy Hunters Sportsman Club of Fenelton and an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his grandson and spending time at his camp in Halton.
He married Helen McCormick Barnhart on May 15, 1959. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2001.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Zaludek of Fenelton; his son, Gerald A. Barnhart and his longtime companion, Debra Bauer Barnhart, of Fenelton; his grandchildren, Charles, Michael and Julia Zaludek, Alan and Caitlyn Barnhart and Dane Bauer; his three great-grandchildren, Sophia Smith, Braxton Victor and Beau Bauer; and his sister, Georgia "Peg" Morrow of Fenelton.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Paul, John and infant George Barnhart; his sister, Emmabelle Hepler; and his son-in-law, David "Zeke" Zaludek.
Barnhart- The friends of Gerald T. "Tom" Barnhart, who passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, downtown Chicora.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sheila Auer and the Rev. John Pistorius officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Reformed Cemetery, Chicora.
