Obituary
Esther D. Berteotti, 90, of Chicora, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 1:15 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Yatesboro and was the daughter of the late Elia Caresani and Asunta Coradi Caresani.
She was a devoted homemaker and worked at the 5 & 10 in Chicora.
She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora, where she was very active washing and ironing the altar cloths and priest vestures. She also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of the church.
She was a member of Chicora Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Some of her hobbies were baking cookies and crocheting, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She delighted in putting treats in a drawer for her grandchildren to discover.
She married the late Joseph Berteotti May 8, 1954. He died Oct. 24, 2003.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ed) Parker of Chicora, Cheryl (Kenny) Knox of Karns City and Sandra (Mike) Potchak of Karns City; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Lindsey) Parker, Justin Knox, Evan (Melanie) Knox, Darren (Ashley) Knox, Nathan Knox, Emily (Tyler) Beale and Carly Potchak; three great-grandchildren, Will, Marty and Luca; two brothers, Robert Caresani of Rural Valley and Joseph Caresani of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmo Caresani and Louis Caresani.
Berteotti - Friends of Esther D. Berteotti, who passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St. and Main Streets, Chicora.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Rick Thompson officiating.
Interment will follow in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations be made to Chicora Senior Center, Moose Lodge Basement, 117 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, PA 16025.
