Obituary
Eleanor Cleora Smith, 89, of Chicora closed her eyes to this world and opened them in Heaven to see the face of Jesus on Monday at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1926, in Chicora, she was the daughter of Harold R. and Dorothy Moore McGarvey.
She was a lifetime member of the St. John's Reformed Church of Chicora, where she taught the children's Sunday school class and vacation Bible school for 40 years and later attended the Chicora CMA Church.
She is survived by her sons, Gale L. Smith and his wife, Jean, of Chicora, Michael J. Smith and his wife, Darla, of East Brady and Richard Neil Smith of Bruin; her daughters, Linda D. Sheakley and her husband, Rodney, of Petrolia and Pamela J. Emery and her husband, John, of Bruin; her sisters, Alene Larkin of Texas and Annabelle McKinnis of Cabot; her brother, Victor McGarvey of Chicora; her grandchildren, Matthew (Lori) Sheakley of Harrisville, Shannon (Greg) Thourhaur of Karns City, Nathaniel J. Smith of Butler, Tyler J. Smith of East Brady, Alisa Buzzard of Chicora, Tiffany J. (Bryan) Sherman of Bruin, Troy Emery of Bruin; and her great-grandchildren, Kally Smith, Jesse Sheakley, Cole Thourhaur, Emily Thourhaur and Austin Buzzard.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Gordon Smith, who she married March 20, 1948. He went home to Heaven Sept. 24, 1980, where they now reside together with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
SMITH - Friends of Eleanor Cleora Smith, who died Monday, June 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 310 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, with the Rev. Mark Wallace, pastor, and the Rev. Gerry Pyle, associate pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at the St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery, West Slippery Rock Street, Chicora.
