Dora A. Kamerer, 90, of Chicora passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening in the emergency room of ACMH Hospital, Kittanning.
Born April 27, 1925, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Ervin J. Ellenberger and Pearl A. Thompson Ellenberger.
Dora graduated from the Butler Hospital School of Nursing, then worked for Sugar Creek Rest for 18 years. She and her late husband owned and operated a restaurant in Chicora from 1949 to 1952.
She was a member of Saint Paul's Community Church in Chicora.
She married her husband, Ernest "Jim" Kamerer Jr. on April 28, 1946. He died July 9, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine, and her husband, Chauncey Foster of Pittsburgh; her sons, Paul Kamerer of Chicora and Thomas and his wife, Jolene, Kamerer of Cowansville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, John and his wife, Mary, Ellenberger of Seattle, Wash.; her sisters, Thelma Stewart of California and Marlene Lowers of Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Kisner, who died Feb. 20, 2004; her brothers, Emerson and Ray Ellenberger; her sister, Faye Ellenberger; and her granddaughter, Jessie Kamerer.
KAMERER - Friends of Dora A. Kamerer, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora.
Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Tack officiating. Interment take place at Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners, Chicora.
