Catherine Bridget Burns
Catherine Bridget Burns, 95, of Chicora died Monday in Caritas Christi, the Mother house of the Sisters of Charity in Greensburg.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by the 80 sisters and staff of Caritas.
She was born in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, May 26, 1917, the daughter of the late John A. Burns Sr. and Stella Blatt Burns.
She is survived by sisters, Sister Therese of Sisters of Charity, Greensburg, Sister Mary Michael of Sisters of Charity, Greensburg, and Patricia Bogniak of Corry, Pa.; her brother-in-law, William Maloney of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her sisters-in-law, Eileen Burns of Hamburg, N.Y., Angela Burns of Erie, Pa., Ann Burns of Erie, Pa. and Virginia Collins Burns of Bethel Park, Pa.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary E. Burns and Agnes Maloney; her brothers, the Rev. John Burns, CSSP, Charles W. Burns, Phillip J. Burns, Regis P. Burns, Bernard L. Burns, Robert L. Burns, James F. Burns and Thomas Burns; a brother-in-law, John Bogniak, who also died Monday; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Shanley Burns and Dorothy Lehner Burns.
BURNS - Friends of Catherine Bridget Burns, who died Monday, May 6, 2013, will be received at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mater Dolorosa Church, 409 Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Joseph Pudichery, officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Kate's memory to: Sisters of Charity, 144 DePaul Center Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
