Obituary

Aneita I. Rabbitt, 95, of Chicora passed away at 11:15 p.m. Friday at her home.
Born Oct. 21, 1920, in Guys Mills, Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late George C. Irons and Etta C. Baker Irons.
Aneita was a graduate of Randolph High School in Guys Mills. She received her registered nurse diploma from Spencer Hospital Nursing School in Meadville, and received her Bachelor of Education from Slippery Rock State Teachers College.
She proudly served our country with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, earning the rank of 2nd lieutenant. She served from June 1943 to June 1945 at Daniels Field in Augusta, Ga.
She was the high school nurse at Karns City High School from 1964 until 1982. While there, she sponsored the Future Nurses Association and encouraged students to pursue the nursing profession.
She is a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Rabbitt, who died Nov. 30, 1987; two brothers, Richard and Clifford Irons; and her sister, Janice.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons, C. Michael and Janice Rabbitt of Chicora, William E Rabbitt of Erie, Pa., and Thomas P. Rabbitt of Chicora; her daughter, Kathleen A. and Mark Johnson of Sylvania, Ohio; her grandchildren, Michelle and Tom Furka, Timothy and Tammie Rabbitt and Matthew Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Patricia Furka, Kellen Rabbitt, Finnian Rabbitt: her brother, Wendell Irons-of Fairview, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
RABBITT - Due to the wishes of Aneita I. Rabbitt, who died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, there will be no public visitation or viewing. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mater Dolorosa Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Worthington.
