Leo J. Groves, 88 of Fenelton, PA died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, following an illness. He was born in Chicora, May 12, 1928 the son of the late Alvin Groves and Anna Easley Groves.
He worked at Penn Dixie Cement in West Winfield for 32 years, he then worked for Fleet Transport in Parker for 9 years, then he worked at Fuellgraf Electric in Butler for 16 years retiring in 2009.
Leo proudly kept his lawn well-manicured with his ‘John Deere’ tractor and, also, delighted in collecting model ‘John Deere’ tractors.
He married Naomi Beilstein Groves, June 23, 1947 and she died April 3, 2010.
Leo is survived by a son Donald Groves and his wife Kay of Butler, a daughter Beverly McWilliams of Fenelton. 5 Grandchildren: Casey Groves, Krista Davis, Dawn Pyle, Michael McWilliams, Mindy Silsley. 6 Great-grandchildren: Cody Pyle, Christopher Pyle, Anthony and Jonathan Silsley, George and Landon McWilliams. 1 Great-great-grandson Kaden Pyle. 3 sisters Mary Pennington of Youngstown, Ohio; Martha Burns of Marshall, Michigan; Anita Kupec and her husband Tom of Canfield, OH.
In addition to his parents and his wife he is preceded in death by a son-in-law Daryl K. McWilliams and 2 brothers Joe and John Groves.
Friends received at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Downtown Chicora, PA. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home, with the Reverend Gary Smith retired minister of the Church of the Nazarene of Zelienople officiating.
Interment will follow in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery, Worthington, PA
