Lewis "Lew"William Fugini, a lifelong resident of Chicora, PA passed away on Friday, March 25th 2016 at the age of 95, in the Chicora Medical Center. Lewis was born on September 28, 1920 in Chicora, PA to Peter and Marie Fugini. Lewis co-owned and operated several well-known family businesses (including Fugini Ford) for many years.  He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Church where he participated in choir and was a lector.  Lewis was also an accomplished accordion player and tenor and for many years played in a local band. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Lewis had 70 years of continuous membership in American Legion Post 642.

Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Patsy and his second wife Ruth Skidmore. He was the loving father of Mary Jo Fugini, Linda Draper and husband Ron, Karen Fugini, Richard Fugini and wife MinJae. He was also the stepfather of Jim and Bill Skidmore. He was a devoted grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lewis was the eldest of 11 children and is survived by 3 brothers: Father Francis, Vince, Frank and 3 sisters, Bernie Martin, Sylvia Pennington and Rosemary Rumbaugh.

Lew's ever present smile, positive attitude and greetings with a song will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lew's memory to Chicora Medical Center at 160 Medical Center Road, Chicora, PA 16025 or Three Rivers Hospice at 1195 Jacks Run Road, North Versailles, PA 15137.

Viewing will be Friday, April 1st from 4PM to 8PM. at Steighner Funeral Home, Corner of Main and E. Slippery Rock Streets in Downtown Chicora The mass will be Saturday April 2, 2016 at 10 A.M with Father Francis Fugini OFM Cap. and concelebrated by Father Rick Thompson at Mater Dolorosa Church in Chicora  

Full Military Honors provided by: Chicora V.F.W. and Chicora and Brady’s Bend American Legion and the 99th Readiness Command from Coraopolis.

Private committal will follow for the family only in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora, PA.
