Edith M. Carben

Edith M. Fisher Carben, 87, of Chicora passed away at 5:25 p.m. Sunday in the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 16, 1928, in Penn Township. She was the daughter of the late Frank Fisher and Anne Double Fisher.
On Aug. 1, 1949, she married her husband, Joseph V. Carben Sr., who died May 9, 1991.
She was a loving wife and mother always putting her family first. She made dinner every Sunday until she was well into her 80s.
She is a 1947 graduate of Penn Township High School, where she was a basketball player. She was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, Chicora.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan A. (David) McMillin of Chicora; her sons, Joseph V. (Patty) Carben Jr. of Butler, Jeffrey M. (Kim) Carben of Chicora, John M. (Tracy) Carben of Butler, Jerald G. (Donna) Carben of Butler, and Jason E. (Jen) Carben of Chicora; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and a step-granddaughter.
CARBEN - Friends of Edith M. Fisher Carben, who died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and East Slippery Rock streets, Chicora.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at noon Thursday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, North Oakland, Chicora, with the Rev. Rick Thompson, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, North Oakland, Chicora.
